Two volumes. 77 pages; 21 facsimile documents. Folio (12 1/4" x 8 3/4") bound in quarter black cloth with gilt lettering over grey boards with black label in gilt to covers in slipcase. Introduction, transcription and notes by Consuelo Varela. Limited to 1000 copies of which this is number 551. These 21 Columbian documents belonging to the house of Alba undoubtedly constitute the best and most varied collection of Columbian originals in any one archive: the documents range from letters with petitions to simple receipts. The earliest of them dates from 1493, the latest is a letter written in February 1505, fifteen months before Columbus' death, to his son Diego. Limited edition, in special display case.
