Nut vs. Seed (NvsS) Our eclectic collection covers everything from asphalt and architectural history to zeppelins and zoos. Our primary holdings are Cold War era publications in Science and Technology, Geography, Transportation and Mobility, the Built Environment and Infrastructure, the Domestic Sphere, Military History, and Texana and regional South Texas history (such as the OP publications from San Antonio?s Naylor Press). The publication dates span the early nineteenth-century to current works, with the bulk of our offerings devoted to Cold War era primary sources.
We also have a growing collection of pamphlets addressing travel and tourism, cooking, household management, and women?s issues. Pamphlets, especially those produced in conjunction with a specific product or technology, are often overlooked, yet these are invaluable to historians and others interested readers seeking an unvarnished perspective on commonly held attitudes and social mores. We have recently started collecting maps, papers, artifacts, and instruments related to our subject areas as well.
The bulk of our offerings are, epistemologically, attuned to theories of knowledge, the study of systems, science and technology studies (Science, Technology & Society ? the social and historical studies of science and technology with a focus on societal and environmental impacts), and the Built Environment and Urban Planning, Transportation Studies (both military and civilian). To be reductive, our focus is on works exploring and addressing human engagement with technology broadly speaking.
We are very excited by the prospect of sharing our collection with an appreciative and inquisitive audience. And from our past work, we know such audiences exist for the content we have so carefully curated.
