My cheek is pink, my hair is sleek, I dine at Blenheim twice a week" this rhyme, coined while he was at Oxford, sums up the man who, in his twenties visited and conversed with kings, emperors and potentates and who, in his later life, became Viceroy of India, Foreign Secretary and very nearly Prime Minister. These are selections, editted by Peter King, from Curson's travel books, "Russia in Central Asia (1889), Tales of Travel (1923) and Leaves from a Viceroy's Notebook (1926.) Text is clean, tight, unmarked, lavishly illustratedly library markings are a "deaccessioned" stamp on front endpapers and a number on spine. DJ is clean and intact with a little sunning to spine.
