Cuando el libro acaba, el lector tiene la seguridad de poder encontrar, al volver la esquina, a una muchacha pálida y triste, con toda la fuerza de su juventud condensada en el mirar. Es Andrea, absorta, queriendo algo, sin saber qué. Como el resto de los protagonistas, ha nacido a la vida real por un prodigio de la creación artística. Prodigio más que suficiente para formar parte de la Historia de la Literatura.
