barcelona, Seix barral, 1963. Rústica, 343 páginas + Ãndice. Incluye un retrato y un mapa desplegable de Lima. Muy buen estado. 1era edición del libro más importante de Vargas Llosa.
First edition of Nobel Prize-winning author's first novel and what many consider his finest. Octavo, original wrappers. Boldly signed by Mario Vargas Llosa on the front free endpaper. Near fine in a very good dust jacket. Jacket photograph by Oriol Maspons. Laid in is a paper regarding the book signing. Uncommon signed. When The Time of the Hero was first published in Peru in 1962, it was considered so scandalous that a thousand copies were burned in an official ceremony at the Leoncio Prado Military Academy. That same year, the book received the Biblioteca Breve Prize, an award given to the best work of fiction in the Spanish language. It was later filmed by Peruvian director Francisco Lombardi.
