Signed by May Sarton on the title page. Hardcover edition, with dust jacket, published by W.W. Norton, 1973. A fourth printing copy. The dust jacket is intact and is not price clipped. The story of Caroline Spenver, a 76 year old retired teacher, frail in body, but definitely not frail in mind. 133 pages. Black boards over wheat colored cloth covered spine, with the author name and title in orange and black on the spine. Boards are flat, the corners are not bumped or creased. The signature by Sarton appears to also have a short two word inscription, her handwriting is fairly small so the additional words are difficult to decipher. Edges of the text block are clean, binding is tight and square. This is not a remainder, not a library discard. No former ownership marks, no writing on the text pages besides the signature. Attached photo is of the copy we have in our inventory.
