Original mustard colored cloth with black embossed title and flower design on cover and gilt title on spine, and decorated endpapers all the illustrated ads at the end. A solid, clean, bright copy with the following noted: 1/2" V chip at top corner of p. 175 not affecting text; last four leaves protruding at bottom corner but tight; 3-line gift inscription on flyleaf. Otherwise a tight, clean, unmarked copy of the original first edition with bright cover gilt. Octavo.

First edition, first state with paper bulking 1 1/16" high. Binding of brown cloth with gold, red, and black decorations. Frontis plate illu stration. 365 pages plus eighteen pages of ads at the rear. A Very Goo d copy. Slight spine lean. The covers are clean with bright gold and r ed stamped decorations. Rubs to the book's corners and spine tips. The re is a 1/8" tear at the head of the spine. Former owner's name and th e date, Feb. 1887 are inked on the third blank leaf. The title page is split from the binding at its upper 3". Some tiny dust spots to the i nterior but is otherwise fine.

First Edition, 1886, with all issue points noted. Tightly bound in ornate brown cloth with gilded titles and red and black imagery. Minor damp stains and some small paint splatters to the binding, still Very Good. An early owner's short gift inscription (dated 1886) is on the front flyleaf and light penciling on the front paste down. Page 111 has a 2" closed tear and the last pages of ads are unopened with a 1/4" tear to the margin. Remains a nice copy.

Jo's Boys, and How They Turned Out (Being a Sequel to Little Men) by Louisa May Alcott First Edition, First State  (BAL. 211) Published 1886 by Roberts Brothers, Boston. Very Good Condition. Condition Notes: Some rubbing to cloth on front cover joint and few scuff marks to front and back cover. Binding is very good. Small black ink stain noted to inside top of pages 162-163 (about the size of a pin head).  Moderate exposing of hinges around signature between pages 196-206 (please see photos for details).  Some fading of gilt on spine and minor shelf wear to top and bottom of spine. Overall, this remains a beautiful copy for any Alcott collector's library.
