The Calendine Press, Stratford-upon-Avon, 1981. Book. Very Good. Soft cover. 1st Edition. First edition - one of 200 numbered examples, hand-set and printed on Zerkall mould-made paper and bound in wrappers (from a total edition of 350 copies). 4to. Unpaginated. Unprinted burgundy wrappers with an integral marbled dust wrapper. The wrappers very slightly rubbed at the yapped upper and lower edges. Very good indeed. Miriam Macgregor contributes a delightful title page decoration, Roger Pringle a one-page preface, and original poems (all hitherto unprinted) are contributed by Dannie Abse, Kingsley Amis, Patricia Beer, Alan Brownjohn, Leonard Clark, Charles Causley, Patric Dickinson, Roy Fuller, Ted Hughes, Elizabeth Jennings, Philip Larkin, Edward Lowbury, Norman Nicholson, Alan Ross, A.L.Rowse, Sacheverell Sitwell, Stephen Spender, R.S.Thomas, Anthony Thwaite, Ted Walker, John Wain, and Laurence Whistler. "The project was kept a secret from J.B. and the book was presented to him by Roger Pringle as a surprise one morning, with many of the poets involved also present, having arrived at his Radnor Walk house in a fleet of taxis, accompanied by bottles of champagne and smoked salmon sandwiches" - from a letter by the publisher to Candida Lycett Green..
