The Nobel organization classifies "Diccionario Secreto" as a "lexicographic work"; a 1989 New York Times profile of Cela noted that the book reflects "his fascination with the rich -- but officially unrecognized -- language of ordinary Spaniards. In the 'Secret Dictionary,' he compiled words and phrases -- many vulgar, sexual or blasphemous -- that are used every day but that are not acceptable in print." Cela won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1989 and died in 2002; laid in are obituaries from The Economist and The New York Times. Truly uncommon signed. 351 and 681 pages.
