He graduated from Columbia in1879 and in1884, he was awarded his Ph.D. from Strasbourg University. His other published works include: "Die altegyptischen Texten erwaehnten Baeume und deren Verwerthung (Trees mentioned in ancient Egyptian texts and their utilization", (His inaugural dissertation). Leipzig, 1886 and New York 1887) . "The Egyptian Origin of Our Alphabet", (1886) . "The World's most Ancient Fairy-Tale, the Two Brothers," (1887 and 1898) In Hieratic, [i.e. a cursive form of ancient Egyptian writing simpler than the hieroglyphic], and Egyptian Classics (1900).
