This work became his best known and was intended for an adult audience. Each rich drawing is accompanied with social commentary. The one called "Formal Call", shows the suitor meeting with the parents of Rosita as his suitability is considered before courtship can begin. The delightful image Bullfight Fans shows three men discussing the decline of bullfights. The Matador is not as good in the past, the bull is inferior to those, he comments as the three friends have been saying for twenty years.

First Edition, 1931. A beautiful Fine hardcover copy in black, red, green and yellow decorated paper covered boards, in dustwrapper. The book is Fine, with just a hint of rubbing to lower points of boards. The dustwrapper, identical to the cover design, lacks the top third of the rear panel, and is otherwise mildly edgeworn, through unfaded. Decorative endpapers. Unpaginated. 48 full page drawings with lengthy prose descriptions. The book is suggestive of juvenile literature, but it's n ot limited to that genre. Just an honest, forthright presentation of Mexicoan daily life and landscape in the late 1920's. Scarce.
