Hard back volume bound in contemporary half dark green morocco, finely grained dark green cloth covers, six raised bands to the spine with gilt title and author lettering divided between two [one missing] scarlet morocco labels, marble page edges and end papers. Quarto 10'' x 7½''. Contains 449; [xvi] 449 printed pages of text with 6 hand-coloured plates and 96 monochrome illustrations throughout.
