An anthology of charming fairy tales written and illustrated by Edmund Dulac. Published in the midst of World War One, this volume contains 'fairy tales of the allied nations'. These include 'Snegurochka', 'The Buried Moon', 'The Seven Conquerors of the Queen of the Mississippi', 'Urashima Taro', 'The Green Serpent', and more. Illustrated with a tipped-in colour frontispiece, and fourteen tipped-in colour plates. Collated, complete. Dulac is a well regarded illustrator of magazines and books, known in particular for his editions of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales, and 'The Rubaiyat'. His style is mostly Art Nouveau, and his illustrations of fairy tales have remained very popular. Undated, dated from Jisc from a copy held at the British Library. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities, resulting in a small amount of fraying to the cloth. Light marks to the boards, mostly to the rear board, with a faint damp stain to the rear joint and head of the board. Scattered spots to the endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with some scattered spots. Very Good.
