412pp. Quarto [27 cm] Black cloth with an illustrated paper label on the front cover. Publisher's black top stain. Black endpapers. Gentle rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Boards mildly scratched and soiled. Gilt stamped title has nearly completely disappeared from spine. The pages are tanned and the textblock edges are scratched. All plates present, though corner of frontispiece is creased. With striking color and black-and-white illustrations by Harry Clarke, a prominent figure in the Irish Arts and Crafts Movement. The first version, which was published in 1919 only had monotone illustrations.
