The Dedication Copy, Inscribed on the half-title to Caroline Gordon and Allen Tate: "The dedicatrix & dedicator to the dedicatees / with all love from Biala-Ford Madox Ford. New York April MCMXXXV." The printed dedication reads: "To Caroline Gordon / who chronicles another South / and to Allen Tate / Who came to Provence and there wrote to 'that sweet land' the poem called 'The Mediterranean' and where we went in the boat was a long way. F.M.F. and B." According to the index, Tate appears eight times in the text. *Provence* was published in late March of 1935, a few days before this copy was inscribed for Gordon and Tate. The dedication copy.
