Number forty-six of five hundred copies produced, flat signed by Stephen Walters, who contributed the introduction. Illustrated with a colour plate, two monochrome plates, and a folding map. Collated, complete. This beautifully produced limited edition book is a facsimile of the manuscript of John Fryer's diary held in the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich. Fryer was sailing master aboard the Bounty, and a strong critic of both Lieutenant William Bligh, and mutiny leader Fletcher Christian. In a half calf binding, with paper covered slip case. The events of Fryer's narrative of the mutiny and subsequent voyage have been adapted into three films, with Fryer most recently portrayed by Daniel Day-Lewis. In the publisher's original half calf binding with marbled paper covered boards, and paper covered slip case. Externally, fine. Significant marks to perimeters of one board of the slip case, and one spot to the tail of the slip case back strip. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright. Split to head of slipcase. Fine.
