In 1936 Piet Van Asch set up NZ's first commercial aerial mapping company, appropriately named NZ Aerial Mapping. At the time of publication NZAM was the country's oldest aviation company. In that half century it had become well established as a leader in the field, working in the Pacific as well as NZ. Before NZAM the small Air Force has undertaken some limited aerial photopgraphy, surveying and mapping, but the advent of the company opened up the science to a large number of organisations, councils, industries and individuals. This is an impressive story of a company of small beginnings, great foresight, innovation, success and longevity. Not only a record of a company and its work, but of the people, planes and plans that led to great service and achievements. This an ex-library copy, but from a reference section and thus little used. 188 pages including three appendices, bibliography, references and index. 12 colour photographs, b/w photos throughout, many full page, several maps, documents and diagram, decorative e/papers. Blue hard covers with silver front decoration/spine titles VG+. library and "reference only" stamps top half title, "reference only" stamp top title page with library stamp near lower edge, library codes title page verso with "reference only" again top right contents page, no stamps through text block which is excellent, library stamp lower edge last page with crosssed bar code lower edge RFEP. Colour pictorial DJ is plastic protected and VG+, lightly taped to both boards at top. Library stamp upper/lower page edges as closed.
