It is illustrated throughout with b/w fulll page illustrations. No illustrator is mentioned. The book contains 257 pages, with two blank pages at back, one of which has been torn and repaired. The ffl and bfl show children in shadow, grey on white. The pages of the novel are free of writing, tears and folds. The blue cloth cover is stamped in black with title and author and shows slight soiling on front and fading on spine. The corners are slightly rubbed. The binding is tight.

No date noted but late 1800s. Previous owners dedication in beautiful script dated 1902. A bit of edge wear and slight tanning of pages otherwise good.
