First edition, very early 8th softcover printing of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, signed by J.K. Rowling on the dedication page in black ink. The book was signed for the previous owner, Genevieve, at Whitworth Hall in Manchester. The eighth edition paperback was published only a few months after the first and is one of the scarcest print runs in paperback, with signed copies being extremely rare. The exact print run is unknown but was likely much smaller than the first. It was the first printing to feature an original Smarties Book Prize Award sticker on the front cover this sticker was later incorporated into the cover design in subsequent printings. This VG (Very Good) copy has been read multiple times, with most wear visible on the cover. The Smarties sticker is missing, and the cover shows signs of use. The interior is in good condition. A few pages have a light crease at the top, but there are no names, inscriptions, or writing inside the book. The book comes housed in a custom-made half-leather clamshell box. Also included is a Letter of Authenticity (LoA) from Adam Houston of The Harry Potter Specialist -the world's sole expert on J.K. Rowling's signature- as well as a collector's card.

Limited first edition, first impression - Signed and dated by the illustrator Jim Kay who has hand-sketched multiple owls on the title page, and a dragon spanning two pages. Accompanied by a signed print of Diagon Alley. A totally unique copy. Jim Kay won the Carnegie Medal for his illustrations in Patrick Ness' Kate Grenaway Award-winning 'A monster Calls' (the only time a book has received both awards). Synopsis : Prepare to be spellbound by Jim Kay's dazzling depiction of the wizarding world and much loved characters in this full-colour illustrated hardback edition of the nation's favourite children's book - Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Brimming with rich detail and humour that perfectly complements J.K. Rowling's timeless classic, Jim Kay's glorious illustrations will captivate fans and new readers alike. When a letter arrives for unhappy but ordinary Harry Potter, a decade-old secret is revealed to him that apparently he's the last to know. His parents were wizards, killed by a Dark Lord's curse when Harry was just a baby, and which he somehow survived. Leaving his unsympathetic aunt and uncle for Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Harry stumbles upon a sinister mystery when he finds a three-headed dog guarding a room on the third floor. Then he hears of a missing stone with astonishing powers, which could be valuable, dangerous - or both. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone; first edition, twelfth printing, paperback; inscribed by the author 'To Plymstock School, J.K. Rowling'. The signature is a very early and highly collectable example of the author's signature with the periods still present after the 'J' and the 'K'; as the author speeded up her signature, the periods were gone by mid to late 1998. Being a much-used school book, the book has lost its laminate and has creases to the covers, particularly the front cover; the spine is sunned, with small splits to the spine foot. Page 9 has a small closed edge tear and light green ink marks to the page. The remaining pages are toned, but in good condition. Inside the front cover of the book is a 'Children's Book Award Tester' sticker - Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone won the award in 1998. Name in pencil to top of half-title page 'Plymstock'.

First paperback edition, 1997, 19th printing. Signed and dedicated by J K Rowling on the dedication page 'for Ben / with best wishes / J K Rowling'. With issue points Joanne (not J K) Rowling and Thomas Taylor1997 (no space) to title verso, and young wizard on lower cover. This is an exceptionally Fine copy. There is no fading to the spine, which is a very common fault with this book; no browning or toning to pages, which is very unusual; no peeling of laminate; and no ownership or other inscriptions apart from the dedication by the author. The book is tightly bound and has never been read. It has probably been kept in a draw or cupboard since new. Supplied in a red custom-made drop-back box. A superlative copy in collector's condition.

Rowling's signature, as well as an interesting collector's card. Kept in custom-made slipcases.

First edition, third printing of the rarest book in the Harry Potter series, a cornerstone of young adult literature, and one of the best-selling books of all time. Octavo, original illustrated boards. Signed by the illustrator Thomas Taylor with an original drawing of Harry Potter on the dedication page. At the time of the book's publication in 1996, illustrator Thomas Taylor had just graduated from art school and was working at Heffers Children's Bookshop in Cambridge. At Heffers, Taylor educated himself on the children's book market and its major publishers and decided to submit a portfolio of his illustrations to the offices of Bloomsbury Publishing, including several drawings of dragons and wizards. Taylor heard back from Bloomsbury's editor, Barry Cunningham (who had recently decided to take a chance on publishing Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone after it had been rejected by twelve other publishers) almost immediately. Cunningham phoned him at Heffers and asked if he could create a design for the cover of a relatively unknown author's first book about a schoolboy wizard. He sent Taylor an incomplete manuscript of the book and, after two days, Taylor had a final product: a watercolor painting of a young Harry Potter with his lightning-bolt scar standing next to the Hogwarts Express on Platform Nine and Three-Quarters. In fine condition. The first novel in the Harry Potter series and Rowling's debut novel, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone follows Harry Potter, a young wizard who discovers his magical heritage on his eleventh birthday when he receives a letter of acceptance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The book was first published in the United Kingdom on June 26, 1997 by Bloomsbury and in the United States the following year by Scholastic Corporation under the title Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The book reached the top of the New York Times list of best-selling fiction in August 1999 and stayed near the top of that list for much of 1999 and 2000. It has sold in excess of 120 million copies, making it one of the best-selling books of all time. The majority of reviews of the popular book were favorable, revering Rowling's imagination, humor, simple, direct style and clever plot construction. Rowling's style has been compared to that of Jane Austen (her favorite author), Roald Dahl (whose works dominated children's stories before the appearance of Harry Potter), and even the Ancient Greek story-teller Homer. The first book in the series was followed by six sequels published on an annual basis between 1997 and 2000. The series has sold more that 500 million copies worldwide and has been â‹translated into 80 languages, â‹making it the best-selling book series in history and among history's most translated literary works. ⋠The last four books in the series consecutively set records as the fastest-selling books of all time, where the final installment, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, sold roughly fifteen million copies worldwide within twenty-four hours of its release. With twelve million books printed in the first U.S. run, it also holds the record for the highest initial print run for any book in history. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was adapted into the 2001 fantasy film of the same name directed by Chris Columbus, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, and starring Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley, and Emma Watson as Hermione Granger. Warner Bros. bought the film rights to the book in 1999 for a reported £1 million ($1.65 million) and the film was released in November 2001 in the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United States, Canada and Taiwan. It was a critical and commercial success, grossing $974 million at the box office worldwide during its initial run, and over $1 billion with subsequent re-releases. It became the highest-grossing film of 2001 and remains one of the highest-grossing films of all...

First paperback edition, later impression of the rarest book in the Harry Potter series, a cornerstone of young adult literature, and one of the best-selling books of all time. Octavo, original illustrated wrappers. Presentation copy, inscribed by J.K. Rowling on the half-title page, "To Ashleigh Innes with best wishes JK Rowling." Additionally signed by cover artist Thomas Taylor with an original drawing of Harry Potter casting a spell with his wand on the half-title page. At just 23 years old, Thomas Taylor had recently graduated from art school and was working at Heffers Children's Bookshop in Cambridge when he submitted a portfolio of fantasy illustrations-including drawings of wizards and dragons-to Bloomsbury Publishing. Not long after, Barry Cunningham, the editor who had taken a chance on J. K. Rowling's debut novel after it had been rejected by twelve other publishers, phoned Taylor and commissioned him to design the book's cover. Taylor received an incomplete manuscript of the novel and, within two days, produced the now-iconic watercolor painting depicting a young Harry Potter, scar visible, standing beside the Hogwarts Express at Platform Nine and Three-Quarters. This artwork appeared on the first printing of the first edition, published June 26, 1997, and has since become one of the most recognizable images in modern literary history-launching both Rowling's series and Taylor's illustration career. In near fine condition. Rare and desirable with a wonderful original drawing of Harry Potter.
