Pictorial paer panel to cover is shelf soiled and rubbed but with the pictorial and title details well preserved. Publisher's linen lined hinges generally sound but with side staples pulled loose from rear pastedown. Page stock shows thumbing to bottom edges. The regular perusal has put stress on the paged in the gutters and though all pages remain bound there are several instances of incipient cracking in the gutters. Some chipping and short tears to page stock in the lower edge of the gutter. Three pages with closed tears in the middle of the page/image have old period mends with yellowed cello tape. Prior owner name and 1910 Christmas gift inscription to front endpage. A few small pencil drawings by original owner in blank areas of prelim pages. The original red overlay had been anchored with a linen hinge inside the rear cover. By type of material ut is presumed that the red mylar sheet is a modern replacement for the red overlay originally bound in. A well loved, worn and somewhat tired copy though sound and complete save for the original overlay. Uncommon. Good only at best.
