An early printing with the original design by Ellen Raskin. In blue cloth with yellow type to spine. Top page ends tinted yellow. Corners fairly sharp. Gift inscription to ffep and small ink out to page following, otherwise clean with solid binding. Minimal wear. Jacket is price-clipped with some chips and tears mostly to spine ends and corners and staining to rear panel and bottom of spine. Gold Newbery Medal sticker with wear to front cover. 28th Printing

A nice early printing with the original design by Ellen Raskin. In blue cloth with yellow type to spine. Light dings to three corners, small stain to front cover and crossed out name in felt pen to top of front pastedown. Jacket is unclipped with edgewear, a few small chips at corners/spine ends and tears to bottom of front flap crease, heel of spine and top of front panel which has tape on inside. A very early printing of the beloved classic with the original design by Ellen Raskin. In light blue boards and blue spine cloth with yellow and green type. All corners singed with bottom front corner bumped/split and lesser splits at top corners. Small nick/chip to bottom of rear board. Some tanning/soiling to board edges and soe spots to spine cloth at rear board. Two names to ffep with smudge to front pastedown, otherwise clean with solid binding. Jacket is unclipped($3.25) with 6 inch arcing tear starting at top of jacket spine and rear panel and going across middle of spine. Shorter tears to ends of front panel and top of rear - tape reinforced as are three corners. Chipping as well to spine ends, flap creases and corners with some punctures/small splits/tears to flap creases and top of front panel. Edgewear/rubbing overall and soiling to rear panel. Former library copy, with heavy inserts, stamps and inscriptions to front endpaper and pastedown. Clean pages with light tanning and mild foxing throughout. More pronounced to free endpapers and pastedowns. Coloured pencil markings to last page of the text, which remains clear. Binding remains firm. Some mild brown water stains to pp1-22 but text remains clear. Many creased corners. Boards have mild edge-wear with slight rubbing to surfaces and bumping to corners. Gilt lettering is bright and clear. Minor sunning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Book has a heavy forward lean. Minor wear marks to spine and boards.
