12mo, 6 volumes, illustrated. TItles as follows: My Boys, Etc., Shawl-Straps, Cupid and Chow-Chow, My Girls, Etc., Jimmy's Cruise in the Pinafore, Etc., and An Old-Fashioned Thanksgiving, Etc. All volumes dated 1885 on the title page (except for "My Girls, " dated 1884). Bound uniformly in the publisher's brown cloth, with elaborate gilt spines, as issued. Printed on slightly cheaper paper than the first printings, the pages have mild, even browning, and there are a few stray pencil markings. Some nicks to the spine ends and corners, but quite sharp; a bright, crisp, sound set, very good or better. A set with appealing provenance, bearing the ownership signature of Anna B. Rockefeller (as well as a gift inscription to her, from "Edna") on the opening blanks of volume I. Anna Beatrice Rockefeller was the niece of John D. Rockefeller, Sr.; the daughter of his brother Franklin. Complete sets of the first printings of the "Aunt Jo's Scrap-Bag" series are difficult to compile, especially in uniform condition or binding cloth. This set, which was certainly purchased as a single unit as a gift to the young Miss Rockefeller, is pleasingly intact and well-preserved; a reasonably priced substitute for a set of first printings.
