Verso of the front endpaper states "First Edition" with Leonard Weisgard's signature below. General wear to cover edges/corners. String binding is very slightly loose, but only at the front hinge - back hinge is snug. Premium of the illustrator's signature. There are flaws: Prev. owner was a librarian and had a children's book presentation - unfortunately glued her typed notes to the top edge of the front endpaper. Prev. owner's bookplate is on the center, bottom edge of the front endpaper. Content pages are clean and unmarked. DJ is worn and has several short edge tears along with a 1 1/2" edge tear on the bottom edge of the front panel. DJ is not price clipped. Slug on the DJ back flap states: "There is an extra copy of one of the four-color mountain pictures, ready to be cut out for framing, in front of the book." such picture is not present - and there is no evidence that any page has been cut out or removed.
