Two first edition works of fiction from British novelist John Masters. Two first edition novels from writer and Indian Army Officer John Masters, both in bright publisher's original dust wrappers. The first work present is the 1959 first edition of 'Fandango Rock', set in fascist Spain as ruled by General Franco and focusing on the relationship between the American and Spanish governments. The second work is the 1964 first edition of 'Trial at Monomoy', an allegorical work of fiction the inner lives and personalities of Cape Cod townspeople as they are isolated by an unprecedented storm. Both of these novels are unusual in being a departure from Masters' usual fare, typically being works of historical fiction set in India. With 'Fandango' in the publisher's original cloth binding with price unclipped dust wrapper, and 'Monomoy' in publisher's original paper covered boards, with price clipped dust wrapper. Shelf wear to top edge of 'Fandango dust wrapper, otherwise exceptionally bright. Chipping to back strip head of 'Monomoy', with rubbing to back strip tail and light marks to rear wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Near Fine.
