Uncoloured map. Originally engraved by Joseph Moxon in 1671 this later issue of 1705 by Richard Blome has the cartouche and coats of arms and lower engraving re-engraved and the lower part of the plate removed and replaced with a irnage of small hills! The Jonas and his whale engraving has also been re-engraved at the centre top of the image. Now measuring 27x45cms. Very wide margins. [Joseph Moxn 1627-1699]. Coloured; signs of old vertical folds from book, old tape repairs to short tears at the edges of the paper on verso, tope left corner of margin missing with no loss, red ruled, slight wear, but overall a fair example. A map of the region covering the Holy Land, Cyprus across to Assyria, shows the expulsion of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden, also shows the Tower of Babel and Nineva. On the lower part of the map is the legend.'the Kingdom of Sheba from whence the Queen of Sheba came to hear the Wisdom of Salomon and presented him with Gold Jewels etc.'. Originally published in a Bible by Nicolas Visscher, this appears to be the third edition translated by Joseph Moxon. LAOR: 518.
