THE SOFT-HACKLED FLY: A trout fisherman's guide. By Sylvester Nemes. Author's Edition.
by Nemes (Sylvester). (1922-2011).
(Hardcover, 1988). (1975) 1988 Author's Edition. 8vo (156 x 236mm). Pp130. B/w photographs, bibliography. Coarse-wove stone-coloured cloth, spine titled in gilt. Very good in slightly rubbed and spine-faded dust-wrapper. Signed by the author. Sylvester Nemes spent many years enthusing to his fellow North American fly fishermen about the soft-hackled fly, and in doing so he created an interesting and useful byway in the literature of the North Country fly. He was, of course, premature in asking "Why did the style lose favor in the current century?" First published by the Chatham Press in 1975, reprinted by the author in 1988, and again by Stackpole Books in 1993 and subsequently. The first two editions only carried the sub-title on the dust-wrapper. .
