First edition. Hard cover published by Harcourt, Brace, and Co. in 1955. Brown covers with silver lettering on front and spine and an orange sun on the front cover. Covers have some fading around edges, bottom corners are bumped some, and ends of spine have some wear. Bottom edge of pages has two small stains. Dust jacket is worn and torn at ends by spine, has some edge wear, and is scuffed and stained. DJ is in acceptable condition.; 8vo 8"-9" tall; 244 pages.

Octavo (20.75cm); brown paper-covered boards, with titling and decorative elements stamped in silver and orange on spine and front cover; dustjacket; viii,244,[4]pp. Light wear to spine ends, gentle sunning to upper board edges, else Near Fine. Dustjacket is unclipped (priced $3.50), lightly edgeworn and dust-soiled, sunned (particularly at spine and upper front panel), with a short tear and attendant creasing at crown, and three tiny stains at upper rear panel; Very Good+. O'Brian's third collection of short stories.
