Heavy paper stock pages feature beautiful borders of decorative designs/illustrations. Condition: Binding reflects aging, including age toning, soiling, scattered discoloration spots, wear to corners (some showing a tad), periodic rippling of cloth on top cover, light fraying/short tears to top/foot of spine, edge wear, darkening/tanning of spine. Joints and hinges are tight. Two gift inscriptions, one dated 1856 another 1908 (the latter is a warm, touching inscription). Several signatures holding on with partial sewing. The expected age toning, light staining/soiling, foxing, and some fading and creases for a book over 178 years old. Overall Good. Text is clear and readable. Illustrations are vivid and in Very Good condition. Free of the smoke smell of a cigarette or cigar smoker. Some spotting to contents, big game angling bookplate of Jack Reece to front paste down. Recased in the original brown cloth, some darkening, part of original spine relayed, g+.
