Publisher: Sire Records
Date published: 1977
New York: Sire Records, 1977. Very Good. New York: Sire Records, 1977. Reissue; Special Collectors Edition. 45 rpm / 7ââ¬Â record in photographic sleeve. Sleeve bumped and toned; record clean. Signed by Smith at front panel; signed by Lenny Kaye at rear. Good. Patti Smithââ¬â¢s debut single was first recorded in June 1974 at ââ¬ÅElectric Ladylandââ¬Â and released on Mer Records. It features pianist Richard Sohl and guitarists Tom Verlaine and Lenny Kaye. Kaye produced the single and worked closely with Smith throughout the 70s, performing with her group and contributing to four albums. The sleeve cheekily states ââ¬ÅFree Keith,ââ¬Â presumably a reference to Keith Richardsââ¬â¢ 1977 arrest for possession of heroin.
