5th edition of this classic guide and the last in the compact 4.5" by 6" format. In addition to a number of fold out maps in the text, it contains the large fold-out map of the High Peaks attached at the end (dated 1947). This map includes several peaks different or omitted from the list today. (Donaldson and Emmons not shown, Marshall not named), Macomb spelled McComb. There is no trail to Phelps (it was still trailless). There are markings on trails from the Loj to Upper Works (partly on trails which have since been abandoned). There are a few pencil markings in the text. I have marked it good but would say that it is probably good plus. The guides from 1934 to 1950 are very collectible and scarce.
