London: T. Fisher Unwin Ltd. , 1925. Cloth. Very Good. 7.5" by 5". None. A very scarce early edition of the debut novel by esteemed author and one of the Queens of Crimes, Dorothy L. Sayers. The very scarce UK second impression and first popular edition. Gilbert A3b.1. (notes). Understandably lacking the vanishingly scarce original dust wrapper. Fisher Unwin Ltd in the UK, with this being second British impression and first popular edition published in 1925. Whose Body was Sayers' debut novel, and the first to feature her much loved protagonist, Lord Peter Wimsey. The story sets Wimsey on his path of amateur crime solving, following the death of a man found in the bath. By Dorothy Sayers, noted crime writer and one of the Queens of Crime, alongside notable others such as Agatha Christie and Ngaio Marsh. In the publisher's red cloth binding. Recased, with endpapers renewed and blanks discarded. Slight loss to the cloth at head and tail of the spine and rear joint. The occasional mark to the board. Spine slightly faded. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with just marginal age toning and the odd spot. Contemporary ink inscription to half title. Very Good
