Very good minus, first edition book. Ex-lib with Withdrawn stamped on blank leaf after FFEP and title page. Marbled paper on boards, calf on corners and spine. Spine ruled in double gilt panels; title, date and author hand-written in second panel. Shiny brown end-papers. 12mo. 7 1/4" by 4 3/4". [ix]; 264pps. Gutter cracked at verso to FFEP and at pp. 142-143 but holding. Some scuffs to marbled board panels; rubs to fore-edge corners and spine edges but not rubbed through. External page edges are age-darkened. Text pages are foxed throughout but very legible. Please use close-up options for best inspection and in support of condition descriptions. Oliver / Letterpress, Lithographic and Copperplate Printer, Engraver, Bookbinders and Stationer. Darlington" with his apparent signature in ink. First Edition.

Hardback. 12mo. A near very good copy in a half-leather binding with marbled boards. Spine lettered in gilt on a maroon title-piece and with five raised bands. Bookplate. Not foxed. 264 pages. This is esentially a vindication of Scotland and its people in the face of prejudice in England.

Heavy wear to binding, including starting joints, bumped corners, and heavy chipping and fraying to head and tail of spine. Label chipped and heavily browned. Rare in the publisher's pasteboards. Good.
