Hardy was active in IWW, becoming Secretary in 1921, then he joined the international Communist movement working with transport workers and especially seafarers. He was a leader of the Minority Movement in Britain and then worked underground with the Chinese Communist Party in 1927. Foster was also a leader of the IWW, before creating the Syndicalist League of North America (other members were Tom Mooney, Earl Browder and James Cannon). He became a union organiser then joined the CPUSA, becoming its General Secretary from 1945 to 1957. Top edge is dulled; text is very clean. Dustwrapper is stained, and worn with some loss.
