First edition, stated, gutter code of D12 (i.e. April., 1962), of this 5th title in the Mike Mars space adventure series, featuring along with Mike Mars, Johnny Bluehawk in his space capsule. Orbaan (1913-1983) had just a few years earlier created the cover art for Wollheim's fellow Futurian, Isaac Asimov's "Lucky Starr" series under his Paul French pseudonym 1956-1958.

Clean gray boards with white and black lettering on spine. No bumping, fading or wear. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound - no cracking. Pages and edges are clean, with color illustrated endpapers; no names, writing or marks. Illustrated by Albert Orbaan. 189 pages. Clean bright dut jacket is unchipped, price clipped at upper corner of front inside flap, a couple of short closed edge tears at top spine edge; enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover.

This NF book is square, very clean, with no edge dings, and just very slight bumps to the head and heel of the spine (see photo), without fabric damage. With the exception of a 3" x 4" book plate attached to the back side of the FFEP, the interior is completely free of writing, stray marks, stains and page damage; the paper is quite flexible and the hinges are very strong. The VG jacket has vibrant colors and virtually no chips (see photos); it does have wear at both top corners and at the head and heel of the spine, with a little loss of color at each of those points of wear.
