First English edition thus. "Uniform Edition" A030c. Octavo. 224pp. Jade green papercovered boards. Oxford scholar's attractive pictorial bookplate on front pastedown, with scholar's ink name and date ('61) on front flyleaf. Binding has small soil mark at base of spine, else a very good copy in very good dust jacket. Yellow printed jacket is neatly clipped at corner of lower front flap (but publisher's printed price is present on lower spine, as issued), spine and both panels lightly soiled, else very good. The Hogarth Press 'Uniform Edition' of 'The Captain's Death Bed and Other Essays' is uncommon in dust jacket (the dust jacket on this uniform edition differs from the 1950 Hogarth Press edition, it is not a pictorial dust jacket, and it is not designed by Vanessa Bell). [Kirkpatrick A30c (2000 copies printed); despite the 1950 publication date on the title page, this Hogarth Press "Uniform Edition" was actually published in 1955; first published in the United States, by Harcourt, in 1950, followed in a few days by the English edition, published by Hogarth].
