Faded ink stamp with price appears at top of front flyleaf. Interior is otherwise clean and bright. Dust jacket, with price of $5.95 on front flap, displays shelfwear, with small perforation at bottom of front spine edge and very minor loss at top edge of spine panel. 64 pages. American playwright and poet Ntozake Shange (1948-2018) addressed issues relating to race and Black power in much of her work. This theater piece, a series of 20 separate poems choreographed to music weaving interconnected stories of love, empowerment, struggle and loss into a complex representation of sisterhood, was winner of the Obie Award, Outer Critics Circle Award, and the AUDELCO Award.
Cover is in excellent condition, save for minimal corner/edge bumping. DJ is clipped and in very good condition, save for minor rubbing. Text is otherwise tight in binding. Octavo. Bright yellow front board and orange rear board quarterbound in a navy blue cloth backstrip with shiny gilt lettering on the spine. Book has a very slight bump at the head and tail of the spine and just the faintest hint of rubbing at the spine's corners. White endpapers. Binding is straight and tight. Pages are all clean, white, and crisp. 64 pages. Dust Jacket-has just a trace of rubbing at the head and tail of the spine and at the extreme tips of the outside corners. Nice copy!

For unknown reasons, the cloth along front and rear hinge is darkened in spots, otherwise a very good copy. No prior owner writing or bookplates, no remainder marks. In a very good price-clipped dust jacket with slight edge wear and slight age-toning. NO jacket chips or tears! True first printing with number code starting with "1" and NOT a book club ed.
