The author's fourth book and first collection of short stories. Sixteen stories here, most of them first published in various periodicals. This is a review copy with the publisher's publicity sheet laid in. Also laid in is a black & white photograph of the author which she has signed at the top. Additionally, the author has inscribed the title page "For Patricia - with best wishes - Alice Adams". I have no proof, but there's a good chance the Patricia here is Adams' fellow San Franciscan, Patricia Holt, publisher, literary critic, book editor of The San Francisco Chronicle, and correspondent for Publishers Weekly. Holt would certainly have been sent a review copy after she did an interview with Adams for Publishers Weekly a year before (this book was published January 4th, 1979). Interesting copy. There's a tiny coffee stain (possibly a Columbian Arabica?) affecting the corners of the last few pages, but a near fine copy in a very good dust jacket indeed, just very slightly rubbed and edgeworn with the coffee stain (or could be a Peaberry) on the lower corner of rear panel.
