SIGNED by the author on the front free end paper. Basis for the outstanding movie starring Meryl Streep and Kevin Kline. This copy is in near fine condition showing only some light rubbing to the spine and board edges and some faint age-spotting to the exterior text block, else fine. Housed in a clean and bright very good dust jacket that shows some moderate sunning to the spine, some mild rubbing and chipping to the spine ends and edges, and a light crease to the front flap. A handsome copy of this novel whose title has entered the vernacular for making a decision between impossible choices, Not remaindered, not price-clipped, not ex-library; in a protective Mylar cover and will ship securely wrapped in a sturdy box.

First Trade Edition stated, first printing with number line beginning with 2 (being the Random House designation of the first printing). Binding tight and square, corners and spine ends very mildly pushed but not rubbed. The dustjacket is not price-clipped, has no rubbing at the corners or the bottom of the spine, there are very short closed tears at the top of the spine and the front panel, and the spine is very slightly sunned. Signed by Styron with no inscription on the half title.

Kroch's & Brentano's 1st edition circle bookmark enclosed. Signed in birght blue "sharpie" on half title page. Several small white dots on front board, wrinkle to top of front paste-down with corresponding defect on front board. The very good plus unclipped ($12.95) jacket shows minor shelf wear with bump marks to top/bottom of spine, upper right on front and small closed tear upper left on back. Jacket is protected with a removable mylar cover. Sophie's Choice is the story of the impossible; a nightmare that only war can bring to a parent of small children.
