The book is bound in black boards with a red spine with silver letters-all bright. There is one corner on the bottom back that is bent & there is very, very light wear on the spine tips. There are map endpapers. The contents are clean & unmarked, the binding is tight. States: "First Edition". The white dust jacket has 1 small closed tear on the bottom edge of the spine, light wear on the bottom corners, & very light darkening on the spine edges & flap edges. $8.95 on the flap.
Fine, tight, unmarked copy in a fresh, unclipped ($8.95) near fine dustjacket (mylar-protected) with tiniest touch of edge edge and a couple tiny closed tears bottom edge, barely detectable with dj protector in place. Stated first edition. A lovely copy of Abbey's cult classic. Photos available on request.
Nicely preserved copy of this off-beat and comical eco-warrior story from the mid 70's. Red and black cloth cover has some light smudging. Silver lettering on the spine is readable and the wrench on the cover is still bright. The dust jacket has a very small tear at the bottom spine, and some foxing inside due to age. Dust jacket has not been price clipped. The pages are clean and unmarked, with no bends or tears. There is some light foxing on the pages. On the page edges, there are some light speckles/spots but this is visible only when the book is closed. Rare First Edition. BR (223)

Very Good/Near Fine. 352pp. Octavo [23 cm.] 1/2 red cloth over black boards with title silver stamped on backstrip and a small silver stamped monkey wrench on front board. Map endsheets and pastedowns. The boards are just a hair warped, the extremities are gently bumped and rubbed, and there is a previous owner's name, along with the date "7/2/88," along the top edge of the front free endpaper. In the dust jacket with minor wear. The late great Edward Abbey published twenty one books during his lifetime (two posthumously). Both The Monkey Wrench Gang and Desert Solitaire have gone on to become what the author always dreaded: "classics." They have now each sold more than one million copies each. The controversial novel that gave birth to radical environmental group Earth First!
Very good first American edition, first printing in very good dust jacket. Book is fine except for buckling to one corner of the rear boards and affecting about 100 pages. Maybe it was dropped. Red and black pencil mark to top of text block. The price clipped dj has general wear and soil, some creasing, closed tears, a missing piece affecting the 'H' in 'THE' on the front and a 1 x 1cm missing piece on the back of the dj. Signed by Abbey: signature obtained by me.
