Inscribed on a bookplate: "Richard Nixon for Jim Buckley." Senator James L. Buckley (b. 1923) is the brother of conservative icon William F. Buckley, Jr. Buckley served in the United States Senate from 1971-1977, representing the State of New York. He later joined the Reagan Administration in 1981. He served as Counselor of the Department of State and was later appointed to the United States Court of Appeals - District of Columbia Circuit. He is the author of four books including: If Men Were Angels: A View from the Senate (1975), Gleanings from an Unplanned Life (2006), Freedom at Risk: Reflections on Politics, Liberty, and the State (2010) and Saving Congress from Itself: Emancipating the States & Empowering Their People (2014).

Dark red leather Limited Numbered First Edition, First Printing signed by the late U.S. President Richard Nixon on the limitation page and numbered only 302 of 2,500 Limited Edition copies. Distributed by Random House. The copyright page states "First Printing: May 1980" with a number line ending in 2, which is not an indicator of a 2nd printing but rather an indicator of a Random House First printing when coupled with the "First Printing" statement. With moire silk endpapers, gold gilt titling and page edges, and bound-in silk bookmark. The book is in as new condition, included in original card stock shipping cover, which has been opened. 341 pp. including an extensive index. Includes the publisher's original Certificate of Authenticity and order form.

Contains original 'Certificate of Authenticity' from Warner Books, and card describing leather care instructions. From a limited edition of 2500 copies, this is number 695, signed by President Nixon. This is the most desirable of the limited edition printings of The Real War, with the leather binding and stated limitation. This book contends that the USSR and the United States have been engaged in WWIII since the end of WWII. Actions like allowing the Nazi regime to crush Polish Resistance movements and other "peaceful geopolitical actions" have served to advance the communist agenda in all areas of the world.
