  • Publisher: Bloomsbury Publishing, London

  • Format: Hardcover
  • ISBN: 9780747532699
A twenty-fifth impression of the true first edition with number-string sequence 25 26 27 28 29 30 at the bottom of the printer's page. Only "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" is listed as 'also available', indicating a 1998 printing date. ***Very good in pictorial colour illustrated boards. The boards are clean and unmarked, with virtually no fading even to the spine colours. The head and tail of the spine are creased. Corners sharp - just slightly scuffed at the corner tips. There is a forward lean to the binding. Page block edges clean with no foxing. Internally also very good with an ownership name on the front free endpaper. No other annotations. None of the straining to the gutter of the page block at the title page which is often found due to the cheap binding quality of these books. No internal foxing - interior pages clean. The cheap paper stock is tanned as usual. The colours of the book are extremely bright and unfaded. ***In a very good colour illustrated dustwrapper, which has not been price-clipped, retaining the original publisher's printed price of £10.99 on the front flap. The dustwrapper is virtually complete, but there is slight loss at the top and tail of the spine, and some rubbing and creasing to the edges. No chips or tears. There is some sun-fading to the colours on the spine - mainly to the purple which has faded to blue (please see scans). ***223 pages. 206mm x 136mm. ***An early twenty-fifth impression of the true first edition of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone", in its original dustwrapper, in very good original condition, albeit with the above-mentioned faults. Being such a popular children's book, copies in nice condition are far from easy to find now. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc.

He is bullied by them and his fat, spoilt cousin Dudley, and lives a very unremarkable life with only the odd hiccup (like his hair growing back overnight!) to cause him much to think about. That is until an owl turns up with a letter addressed to Harry and all hell breaks loose! He is literally rescued by a world where nothing is as it seems and magic lessons are the order of the day. Read and find out how Harry discovers his true heritage at Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft, the reason behind his parents mysterious death, who is out to kill him, and how he uncovers the most amazing secret of all time, the fabled Philosopher's Stone! All this and muggles too. Now, what are they? This is Jo's first book and she has already written seven outlines for Harry's further adventures at Hogwarts.

Vancouver, British Columbia: Vancouver, BC: Raincoast / Bloomsbury, 1997, 1999, 1999, 2000, 2003, 2005, 2007, 1st Canadian Editions, all are First Printings , 1997. ------------( all are 1st printings of the First Raincoast Editions ) ----7 volumes comprising the original SEVEN Harry Potter books, hardcovers, all are about 5.25w x 8h inches, the complete Harry Potter series all in Raincoast editions, all are Near Fine/Fine examples with some possibly being unread, all in Near Fine/Fine dustjackets, - all in uniform format and size, all with decorated boards except for STONE and CHAMBER which were issued with plain boards (in the 1st printings ---all subsequent printings of STONE and CHAMBER have decorated boards), a nice set that looks quite new and would make a dandy gift for a PotHead, some volumes are showing a bit age toning to the paper, ---all books have a complete number line beginning with a "1" EXCEPT for STONE which has a number line beginning with a "2" which in this case indicates a 1st Canadian printing, THERE ARE NO RAINCOAST EDITIONS of STONE with a number line beginning with a "1" in this original format (duplicating the UK Bloomsbury design), furthermore when Raincoast issued STONE (and CHAMBER at the same time ) there were a limited number of copies of STONE issued with a signed BLOOMSBURY bookplate, this copy has that signed plate on the blank page facing the half title page, this first printing of STONE from RAINCOAST is extremely rare and even moreso with the ROWLING signed plate ----STONE contains two errors which were corrected in later printings of this book: Line 1, page 8 has "highchair" instead of "high chair"; and on page 53 in the list of "Other Equipment" needed for Hogwart's School, " 1 wand " is listed twice ---errors that were corrected in later printings, as well the upper portion of the spine and the rear panel show the young wizard ---a nice set with all dustjackets in hi-quality mylar protectors,---the RAINCOAST editions are identical in format to the UK editions and uses BRITISH spelling and grammar ---, ---I suspect that this will be the only 1st edition set I ever have to offer---, any image directly beside this listing is the actual book and not a generic photo /// SIGNED (one book) ---GUARANTEED to be AVAILABLE/// ---sizes are approximate (generally within 1/8 inch) ------SOLD as a SET only ------ An order from outside of the US or Canada cannot be accepted due to the impossibility of satisfying the necessary export requirements and documentation ---apologies for this----, .
