About the book: Hardcover with jacket. 4th Canadian Printing. Numberline starts with a five. Supposedly Raincoast's first printing started with the number two in its numberline, not the traditional one like so many other publishers. Both book and jacket are in near fine condition. Canadian First Edition, Sixth Printing [1st Edition, 6th Printing]. In Very Good, mylar-wrapped dust jacket (not price clipped). Dust jacket has the original wizard on the back (not older Dumbledore). Other contained issue points specific only to earlier editions (and fixed in later) are "1 wand" repeated twice on the supply list on page 53 and 'highchair' as all one word on page 8. Numberline runs 10-6.

An early fourteenth impression of the true first edition, with the number-string sequence 20 19 18 17 16 15 14 at the bottom of the printer's page. Only "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" is listed as 'also available', indicating a 1998 printing date. With Joanne Rowling as the copyright holder and a picture of the Young Wizard on the back board. ***Please note that there is no dustwrapper with this copy. ***A very good copy in pictorial colour illustrated boards. The boards are clean and unmarked. Head and tail of spine slightly creased. Bottom corner tips very slightly creased, otherwise corners sharp. There is a slight reading lean to the binding, but the spine is tight. Apart from some fading to the spine colours, the colours of the book are nice and bright. Internally, the book is also very good, with no inscriptions, ink marks or annotations. There are some light yellowing / foxing marks to the title page and page opposite. There is also some straining between these pages where the book has been opened flat. There is some slight wrinkling to the fore-edge of a few pages near the centre of the page block (please see scans). The paper stock is lightly tanned as usual. No dustwrapper. ***223 pages. 206mm x 136mm. ***An early fourteenth impression of the true first edition of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone", in very good original condition. A fine, bright copy of the 19th impression of the first book in the Harry Potter series. All the early hardbacks of this are becoming ever scarcer. There are no inscriptions and the pages are clean throughout, albeit a tad toned, especially at the page block edge. This is quite normal for early printings of the Stone. The pictorial boards are looking very bright and fresh still with no obvious marks excepting maybe the odd very minor surface scuff. . There are a couple of very minor knocks, at the top corner of the back board and the bottom corner of the front one, but you really do have to look hard to notice them. The dust jacket is, on the whole, bright and not price clipped. That said there is some very minor edge creasing and general shop shelf wear and the spine has a faint crease along it, which you hardly notice; also the spine is a little sun faded. Nowhere near enough to render the title lettering unreadable but it is somewhat faded. "Triple Smarties Gold Award Winner" banner across the bottom edge of both the jacket and the front board. In all this is a fine copy in very collectable bright condition.
