Supposedly Raincoast's first printing started with the number two in its numberline, not the traditional one like so many other publishers. Both book and jacket are in near fine condition. Only "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" is listed as 'also available', indicating a 1998 printing date. ***Near fine in pictorial colour illustrated boards. The boards are clean and unmarked. Head and tail of spine slightly creased. Corners sharp. No reading lean to the binding. Spine tight. Page block edges clean. Internally also near fine with no inscriptions, marks or annotations. No weakness or straining to the page block, despite the cheap binding quality of the book. Pages clean and bright - just lightly tanned as usual. The colours of the book are extremely bright and unfaded. ***In a near fine colour illustrated dustwrapper, which has not been price-clipped, retaining the original publisher's printed price of £10.99 on the front flap. Head and tail of spine and extremities of dustwrapper just very slightly rubbed. No creases, chips or tears. Remarkably, the colours to the spine of the dustwrapper are fresh and unfaded, which is very unusual for this title - there is usually some fading of the bright colours. A generally good copy with no ownership names or inscriptions; a little foxing/browning around text block; a little page marking; some surface page creasing. One page of text neatly replaced; 3 pages with clear tape repairs. (see scans).
