A Uk 1st Edition, 39th printing paperback book indicated by a "40 39" number line to the copyright page. - The copy has the earlier brown haired wizard illustration to the top of the spine and reverse cover. It is likely the book was printed between 1998 and 1999 as the list of titles on the reverse of the half title page includes 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets', but not the Prisoner of Azkaban. - The book itself is in very good condition. The spine is faded along about half of its length, but the spine has no creases to it. Small crease to bottom outside orner of front cover, with a larger crease to the top outside corner of the reverse cover. Light sunning to the page block. Internally, the book is complete with no tears, inscriptions or other writing inside- a very good copy.
A well loved and well read copy of the 46th impression of the first paperback edition. The original children's cover. The spine has loosened a little from the foot and also a little at the head. The pages are clean throughout, if a little well handled at the edges, which are also sun toned. Curling at the fore edge/corners of the card covers and early pages. Child's owner inscription at the top edge of the inside front cover. These early impressions are becoming ever scarcer in any condition.

Bloomsbury First Edition, 23rd print paperback featuring young wizard on the back cover, Joanne Rowling printed on copyright page, and "Smarties Gold Award" logo on front cover, not present in later printings. Harry Potter is an ordinary boy who lives in a cupboard under the stairs at his Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon's house, which he thinks is normal for someone like him who's parents have been killed in a 'car crash'. He is bullied by them and his fat, spoilt cousin Dudley, and lives a very unremarkable life with only the odd hiccup (like his hair growing back overnight! ) to cause him much to think about. That is until an owl turns up with a letter addressed to Harry and all hell breaks loose! He is literally rescued by a world where nothing is as it seems and magic lessons are the order of the day. Read and find out how Harry discovers his true heritage at Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft, the reason behind his parents mysterious death, who is out to kill him, and how he uncovers the most amazing secret of all time, the fabled Philosopher's Stone! All this and muggles too. Now, what are they? **If you have any queries about this book, please do not hesitate to contact us at hello@ravenbooks. ie**
