A VG- book in VG+ dust jacket. First Printing (with full number line 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1)/ First Edition (stated) of author's acclaimed break out first novel. Winner of the National Book award and Pulitzer Prize. Book has light bumping to head/base of spine and rubbing near base of the spine (some of the color has rubbed off to the underside/inside of jacket but it does not show through to other side) and a light damp stain to lower page edge which bleeds a little into a few lower pages causing a subtle wave on a handful of pages else clean, unmarked, fairly tight and square and has the point on page 25 (Line 16 Reads man-woman and NOT mad-woman). Jacket has sticker with John Berendt blurb and light to normal shelf and edge wear (as well as the previously mentioned stains on the jacket's underside where some of spine's color has rubbed off) else fully intact ($24 price), bright and clean with no markings or tears. A fairly solid copy over all of this now classic.

This unread book is in very good condition: the exterior is square, very clean, free of corner bumps and edge dings with slight bumping at the head of the spine and slight discoloration at the lower rear gutter ridge; hinges are strong. Except for an inked name/date/city on the back of the FFEP, the interior is perfectly clean and completely free of writing, stray marks, stains and any sort of paper damage. Not remaindered, ex-library or Book Club edition. The dust jacket is clean and free of tears, scratches, scrapes, and fading; jacket is now protected by mylar jacket. A thrilling Civil War tale with many nods to "The Odyssey".
