This copy of "Cold Mountain" has been SIGNED by Charles Frazier on the title page! Winner of the National Book Award for 1997. Based on local history and family stories passed down by the author's great-great grandfather, Cold Mountain is the tale of a wounded soldier, Inman, who walks away from the ravages of war and back home to his prewar sweetheart, Ada. This is the "true" first edition with the correct number line, the John Berendt "blurb" on the front cover and the "man-woman" misprint. A small first printing of 25,000 copies that eventually sold over a million hardcover copies. Also, made into a highly sucessful film.
True first printing (man-woman is present). This hardcover book is square and tight. The boards have no wear with pristine gilt. The pages and endpages are clean, with no markings or folds. The dustjacket is As New. Original Price is intact. Not ex-library. No remainder mark. There is mild dye transfer to top edge, not intruding to the inner page, from prior dampness on spine. There are faded areas to the black cloth spine partially touching gilt, but no dye transfer to dustjacket, which remains pristine.
