Maroon cloth with silver stamped spine lettering. With frontispiece and Foreword titled "THE ONLY NEWS" by Reynolds Price at pages vii-xii. Introductory essay on pages xiii-xxviii features the transcript of an interview with Eudora Welty regarding her photography. Unpaginated interior leaves feature 226 b/w plates. The University Press of Mississippi published PHOTOGRAPHS in a slipcased first edition limited to 52 lettered copies and 375 numbered copies as well as a trade edition of which this is the second printing. The slipcased editions were oversubscribed long before publication and the 6500 copies of the first printing of the trade edition sold out within two weeks of the book's release. Welty conducted few public book signings in the last decade of her life and thus inscribed or signed trade editions of PHOTOGRAPHS are rather unusual.
