First Edition -- inscribed by Jerald TerHorst to political journalist David Broder -- of this biography of President Gerald Ford published within months of Ford assuming office after the resignation of President Richard Nixon. TerHorst served as Ford's first Press Secretary but resigned after just a few weeks in the wake of Ford's preemptive pardon of newly former President Nixon. TerHorst had covered Ford for decades as the Washington correspondent for the Detroit News. David Broder of the Washington Post was widely regarded as the nation's top political reporter in the later decades of the 20th Century. Broder appears several times in the book, and TerHrost notes in the preface that Broder provided consultation with the manuscript. Broder blurbs the book on the back cover of the dust jacket: "Jerry TerHorst has told almost everything there is to tell about President Ford at this point -- and told it very well." Inscribed by Gerald terHorst to David Broder on the front endpaper. "To David Broder, s reporter's reporter and one I'm proud to call a friend! Jerry terHorst. Blue cloth, 245 pages, illustrated. Has tanning of the page edges, otherwise no sign of previous use.
