Large Octavo; pp 169; G-; tan/blue decorative spine with black text; no jacket; cloth has moderate wear to exterior; sun darkened spine; front panel decorated with black and blue patterned illustrations; light damp stain to rear board; fraying to spine edges; worn fore corners; slightly splayed boards; text block edges show modest toning; mild foxing to endpapers; deckled fore edge; pictorial endpapers; broken hinges, as is; frontispiece; illustrated with mounted vivid color plates. 1332888. Tipped-in plates by Edmund Dulac, 11.5 x 8.5, cloth with gold/black paper cover label, 174 pp, covers very worn and darkened, extremities bumped and badly fraying, hinges loose, front inner hinges cracking (more so in front), pp toned and thumbed, all plates are in beautiful condition, though.

Dulac is a well regarded illustrator of magazines and books, known in particular for his editions of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales, and 'The Rubaiyat'. His style is mostly Art Nouveau, and his illustrations of fairy tales have remained very popular. Undated, dated from Jisc from a copy held at the British Library.
