Questo elegante volume raccoglie una serie di favole da diversi paesi del mondo illustrate da 16 tavole a colori applicate su carta forte e protette da veline di Edmund Dulac. Questo illustratore francese, ma naturalizzato inglese, si trasferì a Londra nel 1904 dove si impose con il suo talento in quello che ai tempi era il centro del mondo editoriale legato all'illustrazione. Nel suo stile troviamo echi delle stampe giapponesi e del mondo orientale fusi con le influenze del movimento Preraffaellita e della pittura viennese contemporanea di Gustav Klimt. In particolare nel nostro volume lo stile inconfondibile di Dulac si adatta agli stilemi delle tradizioni di provenienza delle fiabe, in un esercizio di virtuosismo compositivo davvero efficace. Legatura allentata. Tagli bruniti con macchie di polvere; particolarmente scuriti i tagli di testa. Carte bel conservate,leggermente brunite.
